I am an experienced councillor in the London Borough of Lambeth.  I am currently the Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure.  I've been a Cabinet Member since 2006, and have held three other portfolios: Children and Young People (responsibilities include schools, early years and childcare, children's social care and young people), Environment and Regeneration, Planning and Employment.

My most recent job was as Deputy CEO of Age Concern London, and I've previously worked in urban regeneration and for the King's Fund.  Lambeth Labour won back control of Lambeth Council in 2006 and was the first Labour Group to retain control for 20 years in 2010, so I can talk about campaigning to win from opposition.  I'm currently a member of the Fabian Society Executive Committee and I write for Progress and the Fabian Society.
