Ashley is the Labour MP for West Lancashire, having won the West Lancashire by-election in February 2023. She currently undertakes the role of Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities.

A long-time party and union activist Ashley got involved with LWN when she was selected for the first cohort of the Jo Cox Women in Leadership programme in 2016. Since then, Ashley has been Chair of her CLP, Chair of her LCF and was elected to the LWN committee in 2021. 

Ashley previously worked in local government for 25 years specialising in community engagement and consultation, most recently in transport. Ashley’s passion is empowering local communities whether through her work, her volunteering or her politics. 

Ashley joined the LWN committee to extend her passion to furthering the representation of women in our party. Ashley is also a member of the LWN training team.
