Let's Talk Women Elected MayorsWe have seen the growth of Metro and Elected mayors over the decade, and this is set to continue with the new devolution deals.

But we don't have gender parity in mayoral roles, and the structures put in place to bring key players from each local authority to the table don't always bring women through.

Growth in the number of women Metro Mayors has been slow but in 2024 there was a spike up to 3 (definitely not a peak!).

We are delighted to invite you to our March ‘Let’s Talk’ event on Thursday 27th March from 8pm on Zoom, which will focus on women elected mayors.

Our guest panel will be:

🌹 Kim McGuinness, North East Mayor
🌹 Helen Godwin, Labour’s candidate for West of England Mayor
🌹 Margaret Pinder, Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire
🌹 Expert Chair – Councillor Sharon Thompson, Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council & Deputy Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority

We will hear their stories, go over their successes and lessons learnt and discuss why it matters, more than ever, to have women at the top tables.
