BACK by popular demand, after the sellout first and second sessions,
we are pleased to announce a new date for this popular workshop...

Are you interested in becoming a Labour MP?

Perhaps you've been thinking about parliamentary selection for some time. Perhaps you've stood before, but want to understand the NEW process.

We are proud that, thanks to campaigning by LWN, Labour's selections will be shorter and cheaper from now on. However, we know that women still can't expect a wholly level playing field in Labour selections, and we're fighting hard to prevent women's representation slipping backwards.

The Labour Party has started to advertise applications are opening for parliamentary selections, and as we are proud to have hit 51% women in the Parliamentary Labour Party, All Women Shortlists cannot currently be included in these selections. Yet we know that culturally, women can still be at a disadvantage in the Party. Help us help you stand the very best chance of success.

Join LWN for a functional workshop to inform you of the new procedure and ensure you understand what happens when, which parts you can prepare in advance, and how best to spend your time and resources.

Join LWN Training Lead Nan Sloane and LWN Director Claire Reynolds via Zoom as they explain how Labour's selections will work, and aim to leave you better informed and prepared.

Nan Sloane is an author, speaker and trainer. Her books include Uncontrollable Women: Radicals, Reformers and Revolutionaries, and The Women In the Room: Labour’s Forgotten History. A member of the LWN Committee since 2007, she is the architect of the LWN Political School and the Jo Cox Women in Leadership Scheme, and is elected to Labour's National Women's Committee. Outside of the UK she has delivered training in the Balkans, in Middle East and North African countries, as well as in Ghana, Botswana and South Africa. She was previously Regional Director of Yorkshire & Humber Labour, and Director of the Centre for Women & Democracy. She has trained many now leading women within public life, including Angela Rayner, Jess Phillips, Tulip Siddiq, Thangam Debonnaire, Tracy Brabin, and many, many more.

Claire Reynolds has worked for LWN since 2017, contributing to campaigns, events and training. She is Treasurer of the Socialist Societies. She was a previously political officer in 10 Downing Street under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, leading on relationships with the European Parliament. She is a former European Parliament candidate, councillor in Tameside, Greater Manchester, and National Secretary of Labour Students . She has written for LabourList and Labour In Communications, and is the author of the Business in the Community pamphlet, Changing Gear: Quickening the Pace of Women's Progression.
