Councillor Sara Hyde, Labour Women's Network Committee

Cllr Sara HydeCllr Dr Sara Hyde is Fabian Society Chair and Islington council’s Health and Social Care Executive Member. She spent a decade working in prisons, then post-release as a mentor and managing support services

She sat on an NHS Strategic Clinical Network and Ministry of Justice board recommending magistrates for appointment and is an ambassador for Hope and Vision Communities. Sara has a prison-based PhD from the University of Nottingham.

She was a London Assembly candidate, parliamentary candidate and, since 2018, a councillor, who served four years as Chief Whip. She steers Labour Party policy development on Labour's National Policy Forum.

She nurtures new leaders, previously facilitating Christians on the Left’s mentoring scheme and brings forward women leaders as an executive member of Labour Women’s Network and former FWN Chair.

Starting from root causes, her work contributes to preventing suicide, ending violence against women and girls, tackling addiction and enabling safer communities.
