Putting Women at The Heart of Strategy

As you know next month will see LWN's second national political day, Foundations for Victory which will bring together women from across the Labour movement

Our panels include:

  • Will Labour win from the centre or the left?
  • Leaving our comfort zone: regaining Labour’s lost voters
  • The ground war: beating the Tories, the Lib Dems, the Greens and UKIP
  • Changing to win: making Labour fit for purpose
  • Question Time with Amy Lame, Margaret McDonagh and Bonnie Greer

We will also have specialist skills sessions on getting selected, getting in the media and getting a Labour job, alongside our lunchtime plenary with representatives from Labour’s sister parties from the countries of the Arab Spring.

New speakers are being added all the time and this week alone Dame Tessa Jowell (former Minister for the Olympics), Fiona Mactaggart (Chair of the Women's PLP), Sarah Mulley (Associate Director for Migration, Integration and Communities at IPPR), Catherine West (PPC Hornsey and Wood Green), Sue Marsh (writer, Diary of Benefit Scrounger blog and founder of the Spartacus Network) and Co-Operative Party General Secretary Karin Christiansen have been announced.

Over the last week various women from across Labour have written about the position of women in the Labour Party including some Foundations for Victory speakers:

Jacqui Smith wrote on why despite gains for women in the reshuffle there's more to do

Emma Burnell reminded us that Labour women make strategy not tea

And the LWN committee gave their assessment of what the reshuffle means for women

We’ve still got a lot to do to build the foundations for a Labour victory – please join us on November 16th to play your part.

P.S. Men are very welcome at Foundations for Victory so do encourage friends and family to come along with you.
