Labour Women’s Network are proud to host this event to address the epidemic of abuse directed at women in public life, and ask how we can make politics safer for all.
Women are 27 times more likely to be abused online than men, and during recent local and European elections, women councillors and MPs reported incidents of verbal and even physical abuse. Whose responsibility is it to curb it, and what actions can be taken?
Invited guests include:
Diane Abbott MP, Shadow Home Secretary;
Naz Shah MP, Shadow Minister for Women & Equalities;
Cllr Cathy Cordiner-Achenbach, Great Yarmouth Labour, who was physically assaulted during the local elections; and
Nicola Bartlett, Political Correspondent at the Daily Mirror.
Chaired by Rt. Hon Jacqui Smith, Chair of the Jo Cox Foundation and LWN Management Committee Member.
