We are delighted to welcome you to an exclusive 'In Conversation' event with Tracy Brabin, LWN graduate and first ever woman Metro Mayor in the UK.

Councillor Bisi Osundeko will lead us in an evening of discussion with Tracy about smashing glass ceilings, campaigning with hope and vision, succeeding in politics from a non-traditional background, and more.

The event will start at 8pm on Thursday, 23rd September via Zoom as part of our Labour Party Conference fringe program. We are committed to #KeepTheGoodStuff and therefore are proud to bring you this #lab21 fringe online, at a time most members say works for them. Come join us!

Born in Batley, Tracy Brabin was an actress and television writer prior to entering politics, appearing in Coronation Street, Eastenders, Casualty and Emmerdale. She was elected MP for Batley and Spen in 2016 after the tragic assination of former LWN Chair, Jo Cox MP. Tracy was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in January 2020, and continued to serve within the same team under Keir Starmer, performing as a passionate advocate for the creative industries. She was elected as Labour/Co-Operative Mayor of West Yorkshire in May 2021, the first woman Metro Mayor in almost twenty years since the creation of a directly elected Mayor of London. Since her election, Tracy has worked on attracting investment and infrastructure to the region, reducing violence against women, building affordable homes and tackling climate change.

Bisi Osundeko was elected to Labour Women's Network Committee last year.  Professionally, as well as being a local Labour councillor for Parr ward within St Helens MBC, Bisi is an astute entrepreneur, public speaker, philanthropist, life and business coach. She co-authored the best-selling book titled ‘I FLY: stories of overcoming adversity’ and independently published another book titled ‘Befriending Adversity: How I leveraged the power of adversity in my life and business’.  You can find out more about Bisi here.
