What are Women's Centres?
Across our public services, far too many opportunities to support women and girls are being missed. Too often, intervention only happens when a situation reaches a crisis point—whether that means a girl being excluded from school, a mother losing care of her child, or a young woman being detained under the Mental Health Act. Because statutory services are rarely joined up and tend to organise around isolated problems rather than whole individuals, the underlying needs of women and girls frequently go unnoticed until acute harm has already occurred.
Women’s Centres and community-based services offer a proven, holistic alternative. By stepping in early, these organisations prevent family breakdown, reduce reoffending, curb homelessness, and keep children out of care. Successive governments have recognised the incredible impact of Women's Centres, yet these vital services remain scarce and struggle for long-term, sustainable placement in our public infrastructure. Where they do exist, they serve as crucial hubs - acting as trusted referral partners, but there needs to be more Women's Centres up and down the country.
Investing in women and girls isn't just a moral imperative - it is fundamental to the UK’s social and economic success. When women and girls are given the tools to thrive, families grow stronger and local economies flourish. Research shows that women could drive £125 billion in annual growth for the UK economy, and every £1 invested in Women’s Centres generates £2.84 in public spending savings. Ensuring that every girl gets the best start in life and every woman receives timely, holistic support is an investment that ultimately benefits all of us.

Photos & Recording - A professional photographer and videographer will be present to capture the night. LWN and all our partner organisations, will use these photos or any short video clips taken from the event in future communications, including for other events, on social media, and in printed materials. We will always use these responsibly and with care.
Photos will include group guest shots and shots to capture the atmosphere, which you may be in; and the videographer may record speeches, some of the event, get vox-pops and capture the atmosphere. These photos and recordings may be added to a larger piece of work or used individually.
If you do not want to be in any photo or recording, please inform us immediately. While we will do our very best, we cannot be responsible if you appear in any of our photos or recording, or those taken by other attendees.
