Where Next? From Rhetoric to Reality- "Zero Tolerance" on Sexual Harassment
LWN has long campaigned for a wholly independent system for sexual harassment complaints within the Labour Party. The current system is subject to delays, leaks and politicisation and is failing Labour women.
Unfortunately it feels like we've received empty promises from numerous Labour Leaders and officials, and we were disappointed but not surpirsed that our 2021 motion to Women's Conference was ruled out of order as they aren't allowing women to put forward organisational changes (find out more here).
So we say, 'Enough is enough'. No Leader, General Secretary or NEC has done enough to keep women safe. The Labour press office have referred to “zero tolerance on sexual harassment” and it is time for this to be more than just rhetoric.
But where next?
Join us on Friday, 25th June from 7.30pm via Zoom for an informative and practical session where we can explore our next moves.
Deeba Syed, sexual harassment lawyer, Rights of Women
Councillor Rebecca Lury, Cabinet Member for Finance, Performance and Democracy, Southwark
Kiran Mahil, LWN Secretary and school leader (event Chair)
