I successfully won my council seat from the BNP London Regional Coordinator, Robert Bailey to become the youngest woman on Barking and Dagenham council.  In order to do this, the Barking model to community activism was developed, which successfully enabled us to reconnect with the local residents.  The model can be used in any area where the Labour party wish to better engage with local residents.  I am able to outline the model to your members.

As chair of the health scrutiny committee at Barking and Dagenham council I have led in depth scrutiny reviews on local maternity services, diabetes and whether there is adequate support and how the NHS reforms will affect local residents.

I am a human resource and equality and diversity specialist and currently provide expert advice and guidance to Brunel University on issues relating to employment law and the Equality Act 2010.  I support managers as well as employees to promote equality of opportunity sand work on discrimination cases as well as projects and initiatives to improve equality.  One such project I am leading on at the moment is the national Athena Swan charter to promote more women in science, engineering and technology.
