LWN graphicAt some point in all our lives, social media has been a benefit, at other times a hindrance or worse. We know that the social media’s impact on women and girls is a complex mix of digital empowerment and both actual and psychological risk.

As the UK Labour government moves forward with its 2026 consultation on children’s digital wellbeing, the conversation around a potential social media ban for under-16s has reached boiling point.

Join us for our April ‘Let’s Talk’ zoom event where we will explore how social media affects women and girls, whether a "blanket ban" is the answer to protecting young people, or should the focus remain on holding tech giants accountable for addictive design and harmful content… or a combination of both.

Our event hopes to bring together those with insights, vested interests and experts to discuss what these proposed changes - including restrictions on "infinite or doom scrolling" and mandatory age verification - really mean for families.

And we are please to be joined by Natasha Irons MP and Jess Asato MP who are both members of the APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) on Children's Online Safety in Parliament.

Come share your views on whether we are protecting our children’s mental health or cutting them off from a vital modern community.

Register below to join us on Tuesday 14th April from 8pm via Zoom.
