As a nurse and social worker I have worked in partnership with children, young people and families who have complex needs and come from different cultures and backgrounds, campaigning on their behalf to ensure their rights. Within my employed roles and more recently as an independent consultant I have used my innovative skills to sell ideas and persuade others to change perceptions and practices.
I have significant experience of working with a wide range of professionals and agencies, producing complex information through briefings, reports and presentations on an extensive range of subjects.
I am a member of Godmothers campaigning on behalf of women facing discrimination around the world and Women’s Officer for my Constituency Labour Party. I am also CLP Secretary, Chair of East Riding Local Government Committee and Vice Chair of my local Labour branch. I am a member of the Co-operative party and sit on the northern regional council. I am also a member of GMB, the Social Workers Union and Unite, where I am a member of the Regional Women’s Committee.
I have many years campaigning experience with the Labour Party, though local and parliamentary elections and more recently as ambassador for Labour’s Police & Crime Commissioner.
