LWN'S Training Programme

LWN has a proud record of providing training for women in the Labour Party. Ever since 1988 when LWN was founded, easily accessible training has been one of our prime objectives. Shown below is the LWN Rolling Programme for Training but if you want to receive training on something not mentioned, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Start-Up

This is a one day module which covers Speaking Up in Meetings, Producing a CV, Opportunities in Public Office and Getting There. The venue is usually in Birmingham on a Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm. A light lunch is provided and, if required, overnight accommodation can be booked. What it costs: £5 plus travel expenses, and overnight accommodation if required.

Tailor made courses

Can be designed on request but must have a minimum of 6 participants, and the venue and refreshments must be organised by the person requesting the course.

Advanced

A one day module including Public Speaking, Presentation Skills, and 'Getting There'. In Birmingham on a Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, with lunch. What it costs: £10 plus travel and overnight accommodation, if required.

Weekend Events

This residential course is for women who have considerable skills, but would like personal attention and encouragement coupled with intensive rehearsal sessions. Minimum of 10 women and maximum of 20. Needs sponsorship for funding without charging participants.

One-to-one mentoring

This is provided through our telephone Helpline as well as by email and contact at Conferences and Events. We are also working with EMILY'S LIST who are setting up a Mentoring Scheme during 2003.

Constituency-based training

We come to you! You find the venue, provide a flip chart, coffee and lunch, pay travel expenses for the facilitator and provide B&B, if required. A one day module from 10 am to 4 pm, usually on Saturday or Sunday but can be arranged for other days, which covers Speaking Up in Meetings. Could include other 'Start Up' sessions, if required. There must be at least 6 women, with a maximum of 20 women.
