5 Years On:
The Political and Feminist Legacy of Jo Cox MP

Jo Cox MP was a passionate feminist who was tireless in her enthusiasm for maximising women’s voices in politics.  She was the first ever elected Chair of Labour Women’s Network, leading the organisation from 2011 until her election as MP for Batley and Spen in 2015.

Jo’s tragic assassination in 2016 cut short a parliamentary career characterised by guts, partnership working and energetic truth telling.

Since her loss, her impact has continued to be felt through the inclusive programmes and campaigns of the Jo Cox Foundation, and in a party political context, through the Jo Cox Women in Leadership Scheme, run in partnership between The Labour Party and LWN.

So we welcome you to join Labour Women's Network for an uplifting evening on Thursday, 24th June from 7.45pm via Zoom, where we come together to celebrate the political and feminist legacy of Jo, celebrate her lasting legacy, and hear from powerful feminist changemakers.

Speakers include:

Rt Hon Jacqui Smith, Chair of the Jo Cox Foundation,
Kim Leadbeater,
More in Common, Jo’s sister and Labour candidate for Batley and Spen
Abena Oppong-Asare MP,
Chair, LWN
Preet Kaur Gill MP,
Shadow Secretary of State of International Development and Jo Cox Women in Leadership Graduate
Nan Sloane,
